From Wisconsin and New York to Egypt and Canada, 2011 was chalk full of protests and plenty of awesome homemade signs.

All these people do what they want. They protest against the rules set by society.

The protest on Wall Street has entered its third week and some protestors are turning to humor to get their messages across. Check out these funny, poignant and sometimes spot on protest signs.

On Sunday thousands of people took to the New York streets to protest Wall Street excess, greed and corruption, but 100 plus people were arrested. These images and videos show that many of these protestors were mistreated and abused by the NYPD.

All it takes is heaps of self-righteous indignation.

During a York University class in Toronto, an invited guest, a police officer, let the class know his feelings on women dressing “like whores.” He felt that if you dress provocatively, or like a slut, you are essentially asking to be raped. Needless to say, the 1,500 protestors did not agree, as their “Proud to be a slut” signs indicated.

These are some of the best protest signs carried by Egyptian protesters and those who support them around the world. They make no bones about the fact that they want President Mubarak out of power and out of Egypt. He has recently stated that he won’t run for re election but I don’t know if that will satisfy these protestors.

If you don’t like the idea of the introduction of TSA X-ray scanners in airports, you can protest with these underwear and undershirts with 4th Amendment metallic ink-prints.

This is an 18 year old protester in London. He threw a fire extinguisher from the roof of the headquarters of the Tory party. Fortunately, no one was hurt and he was later arrested. Whatever happened to the days when a protest meant a sit in? 

These are some hilarious signs in protest of the Pope and his conservative views in London, especially with regard to sex discrimination. Abstinence, Gay marriage, and abortion seem to be the hot issues of the day. The signs are very funny but serious too.

In Russia, 'VIP' people and government representatives drive cars with strobe lights ignoring all traffic rules and not paying attention to simple drivers, which causes a mass wave of discontent in the country. People who are fed up with it, mostly drivers that should often bare these 'VIPs', make protests from time to time.
