Justin Rollins became a soldier in 2006. He was deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne. He was killed in spring 2007. But he emailed photographs of him playing with a puppy to his girlfriend the night before his death. Justin’s family decided they wanted to have that puppy that Justin held. The dog was found and sent to The Rollins. It traveled from Iraq, Bahrain, Brussels and New York before landing in New Hampshire. The little pet is named Hero in memory of the dead soldier.

These pictures were posted on one of the American deer hunters’ site. Their author assures that they were taken in Berwick, Louisiana. Surely, this mysterious beast looks horrible. But it’s most likely a fake photograph though the hunter claims it’s a real one. Anyway, if something like this comes out in the woods at night, anyone would be scared to death…
The day after Thanksgiving is known as “Black Friday” in the USA. It traditionally begins the Christmas shopping season. On this day people can buy many specials with discounts thus they are eager to wait the whole night in below freezing temperature outside stores in order to be the first ones to get inside the door and grab gifts and presents at the lowest prices. A lot of Americans go shopping on “Black Friday”, one of the reasons it is named “black” is because of the long lines in the stores.

Troops of both South Korea and United-states have started military drills in case of a North Korean attack. No less than 56,000 South Korean soldiers and 30,000 US troops are training in South Korea and abroad. They say it’s purely defensive but North Korea sees it from a different angle and says the drills are a rehearsal for invasion…
You will see here mainly photographs of South Korean soldiers in action but also photos of civilians who took part in the trainings.

These are the fattiest food you can find in the USA. Everything looks so calorie-rich and pudgy, but all these meals are traditional American fare.
Michigan: BLT

The Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colorado came up with an interesting project that is designed to help overweight children and their families to fight obesity. The hospital hosts a 2.5-month Shapedown Program. Its approach to weight management is no diet, only healthy food choices. Kids and their parents are taught how to make right food choices and drive against rising obesity numbers in America. Annual run/walk is also a part of this program.

Burned houses and ruins make about 40 % of the city of Detroit. There are over 33,000 unused or abandoned buildings here right now. Dave Bing, the Mayor of Detroit, is planning to demolish about 10,000 homes in the next three years. He got the money from the Federal Budget for this purpose. Actually, the economical level of life in this American city is not very high. The unemployment rate here is 50 %, according to Mr. Bing, while this number is approximately 10 % across the USA.

This story started in Afghanistan and ended in the USA. Two U.S. marines found cute kitties while they were serving in South-Central Asia. People and cats became great friends, and now both animals live in America with their owners. Kitten named Kiki has moved to Houston, Texas. The other one named KeyKey lives in Detroit, Michigan. Isn’t this story cute?

People couldn’t silently look at how the oil was drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. They finally spoke against oil spill, BP and U.S. government. The following road signs demonstrate what many Americans think about the whole problem.

Many people dream about living in the United States of America. And in order to make their dream come true they are ready to illegally cross the border. They find various ways; even stuff their bodies to weird places. Look how inventive these illegal “aliens” are!

Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee suffered from the most significant floods in the last 20 years. This was the result of torrential rains on May 1-2, 2010. Some areas received 17 inches of rain. 24 deaths were recorded. Record crests were observed on several rivers and springs. Downtown Nashville (Tennessee) disappeared under the water. Many people were evacuated.
Now people are coming back to their homes, starting repairing and eliminating flood consequences.

A devastating tornado sliced through Mississippi on April 24-25. At least 10 people are killed including 3 children. Heavy thunderstorms also tracked Georgia, Alabama and other states.

Every year Oklahoma welcomes the participants of Okie Noodling Tournament. This American festival is very popular among fishermen. Its participants have to catch the biggest catfish using their bare hands in order to win.
