This place known as Lencois Maranhenses National Park is magical. It’s one of the most popular natural attractions in Brazil. It is formed of white sand dunes covering 383,000 acres and it reminds of bedsheets spread out on the coast. It is extremely beautiful here.

These people were enjoying themselves on a beach in Para, Brazil when the waves started to quickly climb towards the parked cars. Before anyone knew it the cars were inundated with water. Maybe next time they shouldn’t park on the beach.

This is the Lencois Maranhenses National Park. It is located in northeastern Brazil in the state of Maranhao. It has many large sand dunes that occasionally flood but is very flat and low. In spite of rain that is abundant there is practically no vegetation. However, it does have beautiful green lagoons. The park was created on June 2, 1981.

People do the most unusual jobs in order to make their living. For example, this 39-year-old Brazilian fisherman Jose Benedito spends his days crawling in the mud surrounding mangrove roots on the coast of Para State and hunting for crabs. His job can’t be called a “dream job”, that’s for sure.

The strong storm that hit the state of Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday (11) left hundreds dead and thousands of homeless survivors and displaced people, mainly in the mountainous region. The cityes of Nova Friburgo, Teresopolis and Petrópolis were most affected. Services such as water, electricity and telephone were stopped, roads were blocked, bridges collapsed and were isolated neighborhoods.

Where would Brazilian drug dealers hide? They would hole up in the most dangerous slums in Rio. This was what Rio de Janeiro policemen reported. So they held a raid on the shantytown of Alemao after they asked drug traffickers to surrender who, of course, refused to give in. Nearly 200 people have been arrested or detained, and more than 96 buses and cars have been burned during this operation in Rio de Janeiro, the city that will host the final match of the 2014 World Cup as well as the 2016 Olympics. Actually it’s more like a brawl. The game was between China and Brazil. Apparently the brawl broke out when the Chinese coach called a foul. That was enough to clear both teams benches and the fists started flying. China eventually apologized over the incident.

This girl is the tallest teenager in the world. Her name is Elisany Silva and she is 6”76’ (206 cm) at fourteen years old. Although being the tallest teenager in the world isn’t easy, it will help her to become a model when she walks the runway in Belem.

Many people call Rio de Janeiro one of the world’s most violent cities. Why? You can see everything yourself, because the gangsters’ paradise has been documented by photographer Joao de Carvalho from Portugal. He took many pictures of local drug traffickers and gangs who are often the bosses of communities where Brazilian state does not exist. At the age of 18 these guys provide neighbors with many basic needs, including food and medicines.
